Hibernate Computer

Hibernation in Windows XP is a feature which stores current state of the computer onto hard disk and shuts down the computer, this can be later resumed once you switch it on.

To hibernate your Computer, hold down the shift key when the shutdown dialog box appears, this will change the "Stand By" button to "Hibernate", now click on the Hibernate button or press Enter to hibernate. You can also simply press H to Hibernate.

Note: You can hibernate your computer only if hibernation is enabled. If it is not enabled,
Go to Start -> type powercfg.cpl and press enter. Wait for the 'Power Options Properties' window, now click on the hibernate tab and then check the Enable Hibernation check box.
If there is no Hibernate tab in 'Power Options Properties', your administrator might have disable this feature or there is some problem with your display drivers.
